This course is designed to meet the growing demand for teaching Chinese language and culture in Irish post primary schools. For teachers who have already mastered the pedagogy in Irish schools but do not have sufficient knowledge of Chinese language and culture, this course will provide them with the opportunity to develop and enhance their competence in teaching Chinese language and culture in schools.(e.g. Junior Cycle Short Course in Chinese Language and Culture and/or Transition Year Chinese Culture and Language Studies.)
Please note: Qualification requirements for teaching Leaving Certificate Mandarin Chinese will be determined by Teaching Council of Ireland. Please see www.teachingcouncil.ie for more informaiton.
One-year full-time or two-year part-time (Level 9, 90 ECT credits).
For the students who have successfully completed the programme, an award GPA is calculated and a MA in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture is awarded.
Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at UCD in conjunction with UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland.

Students can apply for the scholarship provided by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) which will partially cover their tuition fees.
This is a new Masters pathway programme with three exits:
Upon completing 40 credits students will be awarded 'Graduate Certificate in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture' (Level 9).
Upon completing 70 students will be awarded 'Graduate Diploma in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture' (Level 9).
Upon completing 90 credits, students will be awarded 'MA in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture' (Level 9).
