On 17th October, 2018 H.E. Dr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland visited UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) and met with the CII staff. He was accompanied by his colleagues from the Chinese Embassy, including Mr. Pan Haoquan, Head of Consular Office, Mr. Zheng Dawei, First Secretary of the Education Section, and Mr Wei Yang of the Political and Press Section. UCD CII Lecture Series: Palace Museum Curator Dr Jixiang Shan

The UCD CII new building welcomed its first public lecture speaker, Dr Jixiang Shan, Curator of the Palace Museum on the evening 21st September, 2018. Qian xiaoqian, vice-chairman of the Chinese Writers Association, led a delegation of six writers to visit the UCD CII on the morning of August 28, 2018.The delegation includes famous poet Shu Ting, chief editor of People's Literature magazine Shi Zhanjun, famous novelist OuYang Qiansen and director of the Public Relations department of Chinese Writers Association Zhang Tao. UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) hosted a public lecture on international Chinese teaching on the evening of 28 May. At the event CII also launched its recently completed Teaching Pack for Junior Cycle Short Course in Chinese. Two keynote speakers, Prof Joël Bellassen from France, renowned expert of Chinese language and President of European Association for Chinese Teaching, and Dr Mingfang Li, principal lecturer of Chinese at Regent’s University London, delivered highly valuable lectures on international Chinese teaching for the Chinese teachers in the Emerald Isle. UCD CII Hosts Galway Spring Chinese Culture Event

The UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) and its Confucius Classroom located in the Galway Education Centre hosted the Chinese Cultural Experience Day at the Galway Eyre Square Centre on May 5, 2018. The event showcased Chinese songs, hu lu si and gu zheng (unique Chinese music instruments) performance, tea ceremony, paper-cut, Chinese calligraphy, chess, Chinese knots, face painting, ink-blowing painting, and Chinese ancient costumes. Led by CII Co-director Mr Zhang Wei, the team conjured up a fascinating cultural feast for the Galway residents. Read more
