Last Thursday night, 22nd September, dignitaries including His Excellency Mr. Luo Linquan, Ambassador to Ireland for The People’s Republic of China and UCD President Dr. Hugh Brady gathered at the Swan Centre Omniplex for the first Confucius Institute for Ireland Made In China Film Festival. The audience for the official launch was captivated by the movie Assembly on the big screen at the Swan Omniplex in Rathmines, Co. Dublin.
The Confucius Institute Made In China Film Festival is just one of the projects developed to celebrate the Institute’s 5th Anniversary this month.
In addition to the seven films in the theatre and a forum on modern Chinese cinema and the rapidly expanding Chinese film industry, the film festival also presented the first ever online Chinese Film Festival in Ireland.
“We encouraged viewers to engage with the project and offered opportunities to comment on the films and connect with other viewers online”, said Confucius Institute for Ireland Director and CII Made In China Film Festival Director, Dr. Liming Wang. “We were delighted at the response to both the cinema and online offerings. The feedback we received was truly encouraging.” Six films and four animated shorts were offered online through the website: www.madeinchinafilmfestival.com
