The opening ceremony of the 5th Confucius Institute Conference was held on December 10th at the National Convention Centere in Beijing China. The UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland was awarded Confucius Institute of the year 2010.
Dr Liming Wang, Director of UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at UCD received a very warm welcome from Gerry Breen, Lord Mayor of Dublin, when he visited him recently (Tuesday 2nd November) for discussions at the Mansion House in Dublin’s city centre.
Organized by the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, 16 Irish Secondary School principals travelled to China for a 7-day visit to Beijing and Shanghai from the 11th to the 17th of October, 2010.
His Excellency Mr. Li Changchun attended UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland 4th anniversary celebration ceremony.

President Mary McAleese today attended the celebrations of Irish Day at the Ireland Pavilion in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
On 29 March 2010, more than 60 students attended a Certificate Awarding Ceremony organised by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII).
On March 26th 2010, Ireland’s first Confucius Classroom was launched by the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Liu Biwei in Loreto Secondary School (Bray).
On 4 March, representative principals and teachers from nearly 20 Irish post-primary schools gathered in UCD for a project meeting promoting Mandarin Chinese teaching, held by the UCD Confucius Institute.
