Beijing Foreign Studies University Delegation’s Visit to UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland

The delegation headed by Vice President Mr Guohua Yan from Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) visited UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (UCD CII) on April 12th, 2016. The delegation of BFSU also included Professor Xiaohui Zhang, Director of Confucius Institute Division, Professor Jing Ke, Director of International Exchange Office and Professor Zhanpeng Wang, Director of Centre for Irish Studies. The delegation met with Professor Liming Wang, Director of UCD CII, Professor Yongqiang Cai, Chinese Director of UCD CII and some staff members. Read more

The 5th Confucius Cup Table Tennis Tournament held in Dublin

On the 13th of March, 2016, organized by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland in conjunction with the PingZone Table Tennis Club, the 5th Confucius Cup Table Tennis Tournament was successfully held and lasted one day. The contestants from China, Ireland, United States of America, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Poland, etc, a total of 48 competitors from 16 countries participated into this tournament. Read more

Irish Secondary School Students Experienced Chinese Culture in Their Summer Camp

From March 10 to 20, 2016, the summer camp organized by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, Renmin University of China as well as the Confucius Headquarters (Hanban) had engaged the participations of the Confucius Classroom at Jesus and Mary College and St. Colmcille’s Community School. 53 students and ? teachers visited the Confucius Headquarters (Hanban), Renmin University of China and its affiliated middle school, Beijing No.9 High School successively. Moreover, they also visited the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, Niaochao National Stadium, Beijing National Aquatics Center, Terracotta Army, Xi'an Beilin Museum, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda for more first-hand cultural experiences and were all amazed by the splendid performances of Chinese Kongfu and acrobatics. The Second Working Meeting for Confucius Classrooms Held in UCD

The 2016 Irish Confucius Cup Go and Chinese Chess Tournament and The Irish Chinese Chess Association Launch Ceremony held in Dublin

The 2016 Irish Confucius Cup Go (weiqi) and Chinese Chess Tournament was held on March 5th and 6th Dublin. Sixty competitors from 12 countries including Czech Republic, France, Germany, UK, Ireland, South Korea, China etc. participated in the tournament which was co-organised by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and Irish Go Association. Excellent Result Achieved by UCD CII in 2016 Chinese Bridge Irish Secondary School Students Chinese Proficiency Competition

The 9th World Chinese Bridge Secondary School Students Chinese Proficiency Competition for Ireland was held in Cork and hosted by the UCC Confucius Institute for Ireland and UCC School of Asian Studies on the 27th of February 2016. A total of 78 secondary school students from Dublin, Cork, Galway and other regions participated in the competition.  Invited guests at the competition include Chris O’Leary, Lord Mayor of Cork, Xiaochuang Wu, First Secretary of the Education Division of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, Fei Huang, First Secretary of the Culture Division of the Chinese Embassy, Jakie Sheehan, Head of the School of Asian Studies of UCC as well as the Chinese directors of the two Confucius Institutes in Ireland.
