To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of The People's Republic of China, and the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations in Between China and Ireland, the UCD Confucius Institute has invited the Chinese People's University Student Art Troupe on October 6 to provide the local Irish and Chinese spectators a wonderful show.
Students Art Troupe of China People's University of China is a band consisting of 20 teams selected performances. On the pipa solo performers, Erhu Ensemble, dulcimer solo, suona and Lusheng, female vocal solo form, performing a dazzling display of Chinese folk songs, received a warm welcome. Finally, the Irish folk song, "the last rose of summer," sounded the atmosphere of the venue reached a climax, the audience responded with prolonged applause.
Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Liu biwei and his wife, Vice-President of University of Dublin, Eamon Ceant other distinguished guests invited to attend the performance by the Dublin University Confucius Institute. The local political, business, the Chinese community, as well as teachers and students of Dublin University, a thousand people attended event with great interest and appreciation.
The performance was highly praised by Ambassador Liu. He said this is the first ever held in Ireland, large Chinese folk music performances, far-reaching significance.
