2019 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Irish College Students

The 2019 Chinese Bridge Competition for Irish college students will be held on 14th April, 2019. The competition offers a platform for university students all over the world to demonstrate their Chinese skills and share their Chinese learning experience with others. The competition is aimed to increase Chinese learners’ enthusiasm to study and understand more about Chinese language and culture. The competition is organized by the Confucius Institute HeadquartersHanbanand present by the Education Section of the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China in Ireland, the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland and the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at UCD.

Requirements of the contestants

 

18 to 30 years of age; non-Chinese nationals; non-native Chinese speakers; College students; not an award recipient in last year’s Chinese Bridge competition. (Note: Contestants will represent Ireland for the final competition in China)

The Deadline of Registration

 

5th, April, 2019 (Friday)

 

 

 

The Competition Focus is on

 

1) Chinese language proficiency

 

listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

 

 

2) Chinese cultural skills

 

Chinese songs, dances, instruments, drama, martial arts, calligraphy, painting, etc.

 

 

 

Programs

 

The competition has 2 phases: Preliminary Competition and Final Competition.

 

 

Preliminary Competition

 

1) 90s Self-introduction and Prepared Speech in Chinese (Any topics related to China, not coincide with the final speech) 50%

 

2) Chinese Arts Performance Contest (Within 2 mins) 50%

 

 

Eight participants will be selected to enter the Final Competition in the afternoon of the same day.

 

Final Competition

 

1) Speech Contest with the given topic: One World One Family 50% Speech within 2 mins, followed by Q&A section

 

2) Chinese Arts Performance Contest 50%

 

Within 5 mins, points would be deducted if time limit exceeded.

 

 

 

 

 

Prizes

 

All participants will be awarded with certificates or awards according to their performances.
